POWER!
Our APPLE BITE FIRE GROOVE is a radical new
feature. This concept gathers 80% of the fuel/air charge DIRECTLY UNDER
THE SPARK PLUG where the flame front has minimal distance to travel.
We originally discovered the Apple Bite after a rash of bad racing fuel
caused us to hole pistons directly under the spark plugs. We made a notch
in the dome to increase the distance from the spark plug and it made a
difference in power! (One learns that racetrack vendors are sometimes
guilty of cutting the race fuel with pump gas). This Apple Bite can save
you a burned piston.
NOTE: All of our other designs are "universal" pistons that "bolt in"
with no concern for clearance in all but the most severely milled heads.
Conversely, our "ultimate" pistons are custom fitted to
each chamber and piston/valve clearance must be verified. Heads milled
more than .020" may require increasing clearance. We furnish a can of Play
Dough and instructions for checking and increasing clearance if necessary.
This piston set includes upgrade to superlite wrist pins
(77grams) and Total Seal conventional rings.
ULTIMATE FEATURES
- This transverse groove also allows better scavenging of exhaust gas at
overlap. At TDC the groove acts as a conduit from intake to exhaust
ports.
- Four different dome shapes are required to match the different offset of
the valves and spark plugs. The precise location of the apple bite
under the spark plug centralizes combustion mixture with flame, front
travel only 20mm. Complete combustion is achieved for ultimate
power.
- Each dome is shaped to fit each of four chambers with minimum
clearance. This creates a dramatic "squish from hell" that swirls the
mixture and rapidly spreads the flame front. This promotes flame front
dissipation, complete combustion and incresed power.
- Top ring groove are gas ported to pressurize the area behind the
ring. This increased sealing pressure against the cylinder wall
increases dynamic compression for increased power.
- Superlite weight is only 362 grams with CNC under head milling. This
is the lightest piston on the market.

- Large diameter valve reliefs will accommodate 46mm intake and 41mm exhaust
valves.
- Deeper valve reliefs will accommodate the most aggressive race cam
profiles.
